- There's no way this should harm anything, and yes it works fine - the
- real question is whether it's a proper test of the programs that the
- original poster wanted to test.

- It really doesn't test the dialing capabilities or deal with the call
- progress detection, ringing, or answering. So, if you just want to
- communicate, fine. If you want to test all the particulars you probably
- should invest in one of the line simulators that are available, or use
- real lines.
